FARM TO TABLE: Growing farm-fresh fruits and vegetables
The Bell Farm was founded in 2011, and what was once an empty lot, with a lot of love and care, is now a flourishing regenerative farm.
The Bell Farm is a 1.5 acre site adjacent to the Salvation Army Bell Shelter, and features an orchard with fruit trees, a greenhouse, garden areas, a chicken coop, a commercial greenhouse, and gathering spaces.
The farm currently consists of:
An orchard with 53 fruit trees growing nectarines, apples, apricots, pomegranates, peaches, moringa, bananas and more.
Raised-bed garden with 14 raised beds.
A 1/2 acre area of in-ground row crops growing a rotation of seasonal produce.
A 30' x 48' commercial greenhouse that is the home to our social enterprise.
Free-range chicken area with coop for 40 hens featuring hen play area with enrichment toys.
A California native plant garden.
Dedicated composting area using aerated (turned) windrows to produce organic, natural compost for the farm.
Naturally shaded community gathering spaces where our Food for Life classes are taught.
The farm serves more purposes than just growing food.
It is a place to connect to the land, find peace, learn, and be in community with others.
